Gosaikunda Trek In Nepal | Langtang National Park

Gosaikunda is among the popular trekking routes and holy pilgrim for Hindu religious followers. Gosaikunda is situated at an altitude of 4,380 m (14,370 ft) and falls under Langtang National Park. Gosaikunda remains frozen for almost six months starting from October till the end of June.

According to the Hindu mythology, Gosaikunda is believed to have been created by Lord Shiva when he had thrust his Trident or Trishul into a mountain ( now popularly known as Trishul Dhara from where Gosaikunda is believed to be originated) to obtain water so that he could cool down his stinging throat after he had swallowed poison.

How To Reach Gosaikunda From Dhunche

Gosaikunda trek is one of the most popular trek in Nepal. The trek to Gosaikunda can be started from different places like Dhunche/Syabru Besi/Sundarijal/Helambu. Here we are going to talk about the trekking to Gosaikunda via Dhunche.
Day 1: Kathmandu to Dhunche You can easily travel to Dhunche from Kathmandu by taking a private jeep or public bus. Due to the condition of the road, there is not any fix time of arrival in Dhunche so it is always better to plan a one night stay at Dhunche. Some people prefer to start their trek same day after reaching Dhunche.

Day 2: Dhunche to Chandanbari (Singompa): Second day involves a long steady climb to reach Chandan Bari which is at an altitude of about 3,200 m (10,500 ft). There are plenty of lodges available here along with cheese factory too. Meanwhile, you will have to trek through Deurali (2500 m) and Dhimsa before reaching Chandanbari or Singompa.

Day 3: Chandbari To Gosaikunda :You will reach Cholangpati in 2 hours from Chandanbari. There are few lodges where you can have breakfast or other meal of your choice. You will have to walk almost 1.30 hours to reach the starting point of famous Laurebina pass which is situated at an altitude of 3,700 m. Gosaikunda is 3-4 hours walk. This section is one of the toughest uphill part of this route. You will see Bhairav kunda followed by Naagkunda and finally Gosaikunda. After spending awesome time at the majestic lake, you can trek back to Cholangpati and stay overnight.

Day 4: Cholangpati To Dhunche ( Over night stay).

Day 5: Dhunche to Ktm via bus or private vehicle.
