From pristine forest, ancient stone rugged trails to snow-capped mountain, Mardi Himal route can be the best option for you if you have a relatively short time and less budget. Situated at the other side of Annapurna Base Camp, Mardi Himal trek was opened in 2012.
When to trek?
Mid Sept-October – November : Best time to go for a trek in Nepal. Though the trails are crowded, This is the best time to travel in Nepal.
March – May: Second best season of year to go for a trekking.
December – January -February: Sky are generally clear but high snow fall at this time.
June – Mid September: Monsoon in Nepal, hence not so favourable time to go for a trekking. There is a high risk of leeches in Mardi Himal route.
Mardi Himal Trek starts from Pokhara – which is connected to all the major cities of the Nepal. Pokhara is around 200 km west of Kathmandu from where all major domestic airlines run several flights daily from Kathmandu. Meanwhile, You can also hire a private vehicle or can take a tourist bus to Pokhara which is 6-7 hours drive.
Here Is Our Detail Itinerary For The Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek
Day 1: Kathmandu(1300+m) to Pokhara (800m)by tourist bus
Transportation to Pokhara from Kathmandu is easily available. You can take tourist vehicle or regular bus to reach Pokhara, which is 6-7 hours away from the Kathmandu. Flights are also easily available to Pokhara from Kathmandu.
Some people prefer to stay at Dhampus at the same day to save their time.
Day 2: Drive to Dhampus and trek to Forest Camp (2480m)
Start your journey early from Pokhara. Public bus or private jeep are easily available from Pokhara to reach Dhampus, from where you can start your trek to Forest Camp via Deurali. Deurali can be the ideal place to have your lunch. It will take you 4-5 hours through dense forest from Deurali to reach Forest camp.
Day 3: Forest Camp to High Camp (3150 m)
Day 4: High Camp To Basecamp (4500) To Low Camp (3150m)
Amazing part of this whole trek is as you approach to Basecamp from high camp. We suggest you to start your journey as early as you can so that you won’t miss any views. There is always a high possibility of weather getting worst as Sun rises. Mesmerising views of the northern face of Mt Fishtail will be staring at you all the time while Annapurna south and Himchuli smiles at you from another end. You will reach Upper view point after almost 2 hours of walk from the high camp.
It will take you around 3-4 hours to reach Basecamp from the high camp. At basecamp, Fishtail Mountain will be smiling at you. You will see the huge fishtail mountain standing tall just in-front of you. If weather is clear you can easily see the Annapurna Basecamp from the Mardi Basecamp.
After spending few times at basecamp, Hike back to High Camp where you can have your lunch and start your journey back to Lowcamp for overnight stay.
Day 5: Low Camp to Forestcamp To Australian Basecamp (2165m)
You can trek to Australian Basecamp rather than heading back to Dhampus.
Day 6: Australian Basecamp To Kande To Pokhara
Hike back to Kande and then drive to Pokhara. You can even travel back to Kathmandu same day but it will be good to stay at Pokhara and walk around the city of the lake.
Day 7: Pokhara to Kathmandu
Travel back to Kathmandu from Pokhara via Tourist bus or flight.
Day 01: Kathmandu (1300m) To Pokhara (800m).

Day 3: Forest Camp to High Camp (3150 m).
Day 4: High Camp To Basecamp (4500) To Low Camp (3150m).
