Essential Everest Base Camp Packing List
Everest base camp is one of the most popular trekking destination in the world. Trekkers can have a close-up look at the world’s tallest peak, Mount Everest (8,848.86 meters), in the one of the most famous and popular trekking routes in the world. The Everest base-camp trek offers the majestic views of Mount Everest, along with other peaks such as Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Makalu. During this trek, you need to walk through Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, home to an array of flora, fauna, and stunning alpine landscapes.
Everest Base Camp Trekking Itinerary:
The standard and easy EBC trek takes about 12–14 days (Starting from Kathmandu)
Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu and stay at hotel
- Briefings and final preparations for the trek.
Day 2: Fly to Lukla, trek to Phakding (2,652 meters)
- Early morning flight to Lukla (2,860 meters), followed by a short trek to Phakding. Lukla airport is considered as one of the most dangerous airport in the world due to its height and dead end runway.
Day 3: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440 meters)
- A steep climb up to Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is considered as a the city in the mountains with almost all facilities available for the travelers.
Day 4: Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar
- Spend the day acclimatizing. You can hike to Everest View Hotel for panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Everest View Hotel is famous for the resort at the highest altitude.
Day 5: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,860 meters)
- Continue your trek through beautiful forests and valleys to the famous Tengboche Monastery.
Day 6: Tengboche to Dingboche (4,410 meters)
- A gradual trek through beautiful terrain, crossing rivers and passing small villages.
Day 7: Acclimatization Day at Dingboche
- Optional hikes to Nangkartshang Peak or explore the surroundings to acclimatize.
Day 8: Dingboche to Lobuche (4,940 meters)
- A longer trek with stunning views of Everest, Pumori, and Nuptse.
Day 9: Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5,170 meters), trek to Everest Base Camp (5,364 meters)
- Arrive at Gorak Shep, drop your gear, and continue the final leg to Everest Base Camp. Enjoy the views and the sense of accomplishment.
Day 10: Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar (5,545 meters) and back to Pheriche (4,243 meters)
- Early morning trek to Kala Patthar for the best views of Everest. Return to Pheriche for the night.
Day 11: Pheriche to Namche Bazaar
- Retrace your steps back down to Namche Bazaar.
Day 12: Namche Bazaar to Lukla
- Continue your descent to Lukla for your return flight to Kathmandu.
Day 13: Fly back to Kathmandu
- Fly back to Kathmandu and enjoy a well-deserved rest.
What Is The best Times To Trek To Everest Base Camp?
- Spring (March to May)
- Autumn (September to November)

- Sagarmatha National Park Permit: Around $30–$35 USD (subject to the change).
- TIMS Card: Around $20 USD.
