Insight: Everest Region Is “Plastic Free” Zone

Yes, you heard it right as the Everest region is soon going to be the Plastic free zone. Local government is planning to ban the use of plastics below 30 microns and also the beverages plastic bottle.

The Everest region which is getting world attention as a world’s highest garbage dumping site will see this new rule starting from January which will definitely bring down the quantity of the plastic materials in the region.

The Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality in Solukhumbu district has decided to implement this rule from January 1, 2020.

Bottled beverages are going to see the red signal in the region as only beverages in cans will be allowed.  Local or tourists, everyone has to go through these rules.
